Mind your words….

The American poet and writer, Maya Angelou once said:

‘you must be careful about the words you use and the words you allow to be used in your house. I think words are things, they get on the walls, and in your carpets, and in your upholstery, and in your clothes, and finally they get into you’.

She was warning us of the many ways in which words hurt and harm people, and of the ease with which they can even transform our character. The words we use reflect something of who we are.

In the 2nd reading today we are reminded to be courteous and respectful in our dealings with others.  As Christians we are called to share the Gospel message, and we do this through both our words and our actions.
