Showing up is not Enough!
The first thing to rejoice about in today’s Gospel is that God has created a place for us to be with Him and He invites us all into his presence. It is an incredible invitation. But it is just that – an invitation.
You would think that once someone went to the trouble of showing up, that they would be let in. Compared to the ‘no-shows’ in the first part, these people deserve to be admitted.
But showing up, merely presenting ourselves, is not enough to enter the Kingdom of God. In this parable the man wanted to be welcomed into heaven, while refusing to be clothed with Christ. God invites and wants to welcome all of us into his Kingdom. But are we prepared to do what he requires of us?
